About this piece
Woven on a handloom in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, on the same pit looms the town has used for generations. Every piece is made by hand, so a slight variation in the weave or the depth of a colour is the mark of the loom rather than a flaw. The sheer, glossy finish Chanderi is known for comes from the unbleached silk warp — it is what makes the saree feel weightless and still hold its fall.
